Dubai is known for glorious hotels, extravagant shopping, ongoing construction, high-tech design and an high-energy nightlife. This beautiful city is a cosmopolitan oasis of ultramodern architecture and luxury lifestyle unmatched anywhere else in the world.

Here are a couple of amazing things I learned while visiting Dubai:

🐫  Police Cars in Dubai are Luxury Vehicles.   The police force in Dubai spends more on every one of their vehicles than what it costs to send a child to college in the USA!  The police in Dubai drive vehicles that most people would consider to be very expensive. When visitors to this amazing city see the cars zipping around in the traffic they are stunned! Need a couple of examples? Check this out – The Ferrari FF priced at $500,000, Lamborghini Aventador priced $397,000 and an Aston Martin One-77 for a mere $1.79 million.  Many of the cars you may see here in the United States were originated in Dubai.

🐫  Most People are from other Foreign Countries.   Approximately 85% of Dubai’s population are people from foreign countries and 15% are Emirati. They come to Dubai to live and work.  While on my daily tours, I spoke to my drivers and tour guides and found many of them had lived in Dubai for 10-15 years using their wages to support families living back in their home countries of Pakistan, India and the Philipines.

🐫  Dubai is a Safe City to Visit.  I went walking through the Gold and Spice Souks, visited two malls – the Mall of the Emirates and the Dubai Mall, walked visited a mosque, putzed around Souk Madinat multiple times, walked up and down city streets and never felt uncomfortable or unsafe.  The people were so helpful when I had questions and needed directions.

🐫  English is spoken by many people.   When traveling internationally, many people fret that communication will be a major problem on their vacation. Fret no more! The people of Dubai easily communicate in English, German, Arabic, Russian and more!  I did not struggle in the least to speak to folks on the street, restaurant or tours.
